Why are we putting a fence across Mexico when anyone can fly in from Europe?

You do not need a Visa if you enter the U.S. with a valid passport from an E.U. country. With that fact in mind please explain the logic of the fence being constructed in our southwest border. Is it being constructed to save us from the terrorists? Is it pork? What is the purpose of that fence?

If you have two cuts on your arm, which one do you seek attention for first?

    A A 1/4 inch cut
B A 4 inch cut that is bleeding heavily

hey you forgot about one important fact…you need visa from mexico to get to Europe first and also if you are not a citizen of the country you are flying from they are not going to let them in…especially if all the world knows about mexico usa relationships…

More than 50% of the illegals in the US cross from Mexico. The fence, although probably virtually useless (look at the Berlin Wall — people were still able to cross!), addresses one major thing there.

    1. Visa Waiver is allowed from countries that the US does not have significant problems with people coming here illegally.
    2. When you fly in from Europe you automatically are funneled to CBP Inspection. You must still be entered into the US and you are given a date you must go home (within 90 days).
    3. If you do not go home in that 90 days you are no longer eligible to come to the US without a Visa, if at all.
    4. The fence is being built to act in the same way. To funnel people to CBP Inspection Ports and subject them to the same scrutiny.

Yes the fence is being constructed to save us partly from Terrorists. It is a lot harder to get in if they have to go through a Port of Entry rather than just walk across the desert. Also, as Agro-terror is a very real and very significant threat to the US maybe you shouldn’t just blow it off. One Orange with Citrus Canker brought to Florida would cost this country Billions. One Cow in Texas who has a disease sprayed in it’s face would cost this country Billions. As you obviously do not understand the issues please research before you shoot from the cuff next time.

A passport, at least is some form of identification and accounting of numbers coming in. Fraudulent passports risk being intercepted as do those who are not welcome here. Though not completely fool proof, it is far, far more protective of who gets in, how, and for how long.

And so what are you getting at? As an American you can also go to many countries with out a visa. You just need a passport. You are comparing two very different things
