Are the people the only reason why Orange County sucks?

I have found so far that everything that I have experienced in the OC (scenery, surf, jobs, ect.) has been positive, except the people. Why are people in the OC so smug, judgmental, and self-centered? They act like they are better than everyone else in So Cal and in the country. Why can’t they be cool, friendly, and laid-back like people in San Diego? Most of the people there are not rich (except the idiots in Newport who pay over $3,000,000 for a shack on the beach), so why are ALL people of ALL classes in the OC fake and shallow?

You sound like an idiot yourself………maybe that’s why people wont give you the time of day. Self-reflect!

Wow, great stereotyping. You have obviously not met half the people living here. Maybe next time don’t hang out where the snobs hang out?

I agree with Frank above, the OC, unlike most of Cali., is republican country. Rich Republican country. You know the type of people who wouldn’t even look at you unless you belong to their country club.

Central, —Metro L.A. is an incredibly diverse and big city. I am sure if you try you can find a nice niche for yourself…If you can’t— it ain’t the city…Keep Looking and Good Luck…

I’m sorry that you have such a low opinion of Orange County.

Yes, there are a lot of fake, shallow, superficial people here in OC. I’d like to think I’m not one of them. I live on a street where I know my nieghbors on my block, and most of them are OK. Please don’t judge an entire area based upon a few who fit the stereotype. If you look just a little, you’ll find us regular folks out there, not trying to impress anybody, but just living life the best they can.

This much is true: There are always going to be people out there with more money, more stuff, etc, no matter how much (or how little) you have yourself. And yes, some are going to be superficial and full of themselves. But the OC doesn’t have a monopoly on these types.

I’ve found that you can find both types of people wherever you go, whether in SoCal or anywhere else. And I don’t buy the excuse that some New Yorkers claim. “Being real” is not an excuse for rudeness. You CAN be real, and still show some manners.

And whether something sucks really is a matter of personal choice. You can look at all the negative things in a place or situation and say it sucks, or try to find what’s good and best in a situation. Take the high road, folks. Deal with the things that do suck (superficial people, traffic, etc), and concentrate on the positive things (Great weather, LOTS of things to do, etc).

So tonight, I’ll be driving my Chevy pickup to my home in the OC.

They probably think they r really cool because the show is filmed there and its all like so Cal and all that. San diego isnot like that.

it is not only OC. it is everywhere you go in so cal. Why idiots? if you have the money, why not buy 3 mil house. Personally, if i had that kind of money i woudlnt buy 3 mil house but then you never know.

As a Californian, let me give you my 2 cents on the OC.

Number one, it’s Republican country. Number two, it’s Christian country. Number three, it’s “I’m a rich white guy/gal and I’m going to let you know it by driving an 80,000 dollar SUV / luxury sedan with no regard for my fellow citizen” country.

I love California, have traveled to every single part of this state (and it’s a BIG state), but the OC is one place I would never want to live.

Too many yuppies, too many fake people out trying to buy social status with material posession, no feeling of community or togetherness. It’s very self-centered.

The only explanation I can give is that BECAUSE it’s an area where the market value for property and homes is so high, it has created an area of almost entirely upper-middle and upper class families. (this is a gross generalization, of course). But from the few times I have been there, that is what I have observed.

In a way, I feel it has all of the worst attributes of the LA basin sifted out and shining in this area. I just feel like so much is wasted there. So much waste. : (

Visit other parts of California, especially in the central and north coast. You will find lots of places where people are genuinly good people.

You know in general, Ive never really liked the west coast. The people do seem shallow. self centered and robotic. Now I have met some very cool people and actually dated a great girl from San Diego. BUT for the most part, being a New Yorker… I never quite understood and wanted to get a long with your average California snob…

Its a very weird shallow society, based on Material wealth and possessions. The people same very flakey, and 2 faced. I had 2 work out there for my company.. and told my company and I would never go back there.

Sorry California, but you guys, for the most part, are hated by most the country for being WEIRD STUCKUP FlAKEY SELF CENTERED SNOBS.

You can always move to NYC. We are not as fake nice, but Like J-lo says. we are more REAL!!!
